The Spring Cleaning Newsletter - #11

I just got back from the World Ag Expo in Tulare, CA. It was an amazing show, to say the least, and it was a lot of fun promoting Fluid Film to new users. One thing that I love about trade shows are the comments you get from people who are already familiar with the product. There are just so many uses for Fluid Film that the list seems endless. After talking extensively about the product and hearing so many different stories about uses, I am gearing up for my annual spring cleaning, which includes cleaning, lubricating and protecting all my precious belongings.

Spring is my favorite time of year: The warmer weather, the new blooms popping up all over, taxes, working in the yard. Taxes? Did I really say that? Okay, that’s one of my least favorite parts of spring. I believe it was Ben Franklin who once said there are only two certainties in life: Rust and Taxes. It was something close to that, anyway…

With spring on the way it is time to dust off my honey-do list and earn a few lesser trips to the couch at night. The first item on the list is the every present garage cleaning. She’s upset because she can’t park the car in there anymore, but hey, I like tools and I’ve got an old weight set that I just might pick up one of these years. The first step to garage cleaning is making sure all my tools and equipment won’t get a speck of rust on them. That means pulling out the old trusty can of Fluid Film and wiping down all my car, shop, and garden tools, and protecting my abandoned weight equipment. Since most of them won’t see the light of day for the rest of the year, that’s all that needs to be done. By rubbing in the Fluid Film, I know it won’t come off on my hands or clothes and will continue to protect for the rest of the year. For those that will actually see service like the shovel, rake and hoe, just an occasional reapplication is all that’s necessary. I hit the underdeck of the lawn mower and bike chain as well. Heck, as long as I’m in here, I might as well hit the garage door runners. They haven’t made a squeak in years (because of Fluid Film), but a light coat to ensure proper lubrication won’t hurt. She still can’t park in the garage, but at least I’m happy. Off to number two: Car protection.

Since she can’t park in the garage, I’ll at least make sure that her car is protected. Under wheel wells, in locks, inside the rear fenders, inside the bottom of the doors, in the spare tire well and on the battery terminals are just some of the areas that need to be protected. I already had the underside coated with Fluid Film, which should last at least a year, as well as spraying Fluid Film in all existing car holes by removing all factory plugs as well as trunk and hood liners. If her car’s gonna sit out in the driveway while mine is cozy in the garage, I want to make sure it looks good for her. I even used Fluid Film on all the rubber trim. It soaks in and really makes it shine, and since I know it won’t wash off anytime soon, I won’t have to touch her car again for awhile. Off to number three: Home lubrication.

I hit the front door whistling and she’s already upset. She was watching through the kitchen window and knows her car is still outside. All my explanations about the advantages of Fluid Film just won’t work. I think she’s a little jealous of my love for the stuff. She’s making that “gonna puke” face as I ramble on like a kid who just smashed a baseball through the front window. Looks like I’ll be back outside later after a nap on the couch. For now, I’ll get to all the hinges, key holes, slides and window tracks in the house and finally fix the sticking wooden drawers on the dresser. Wood to wood, metal to metal, metal to wood, plastic to metal, you name it, it works. Kinda sounds like a tongue twister. Try saying that ten times fast!

Lastly, before my much needed nap, I head outside to coat the gutters and siding. Fluid Film helps to keep my gutters from getting clogged and it protects and really brings back the shine on my aluminum siding. I also use it to shine up my old beat up Ford truck. The paint was old and oxidized, and Fluid Film brought that paint right back to its original luster. That one brought another “gonna puke” face from old you-know-who. She thought we were gonna sell it, but after it came out looking so good, I just couldn’t. An old truck is like an old dog. You can’t trade them in. You gotta keep em until they die.

Off to the couch for my much needed nap. As I try to get cozy I steal a glance and see her eyeing me from the kitchen with her arms crossed, foot tapping. I think I should just get comfortable, since I have a feeling I’ll be sleeping here again tonight...

BTW, our new test results are in and Fluid Film wiped out the competition yet again! Check them out here!
