The Poultry Farm Newsletter - #16

I was talking to a distributor of ours this morning who supplies product to the Poultry Industry and I was quite interested in what they had to say. Campbell Lighting Inc, has been a loyal distributor of ours for years and I had the pleasure of speaking to their president as well as their head of operations concerning Fluid Film and what makes it so valuable to that industry.

If you think about it, a poultry farm can be a pretty foul place (pun intended). With today’s chicken coops costing upwards of $500,000 a piece, that’s a whole lot of chickens in one confined area. When you consider the amount of chicken waste that is generated and the extremely corrosive environment that can create, it’s no wonder that Fluid Film has become such an important commodity to poultry farmers.

There is a lot of galvanized steel and aluminum fixtures inside poultry plants or CAFOs (concentrated animal-feeding operations), and the problem with rust and corrosion is of serious concern. Galvanized steel does not hold up well in a highly corrosive atmosphere and poultry plants carry high concentrations of ammonia. In poultry plants, corrosion in crevices and metals connecting to timber are also a serious problem leading to early replacement of materials, resulting in significant cost.

Poultry plants need to be careful about what types of chemicals are utilized inside their facilities, as environmental concerns are paramount when dealing with edible animal products. Most corrosion preventives are of high solvent content, making them unsuitable for use in such critical environments.

Fluid Film is the perfect product to combat corrosion under these circumstances. With no solvent content and a natural lanolin base, Fluid Film protects all metals from the corrosive effects of fertilizers, pesticides, salts and chicken poop. (Yes, I said that.) The conversation I had with Campbell Lighting Inc. made it clear just how effective Fluid Film has been to solve that problem. They swear by the product and told me there was no better product for their industry.

Campbell Lighting Inc. has over 300 distributors throughout the United States and has been in business for over twenty years. If you are interested in finding out more information about them or are in the industry and would like to find out more about Fluid Film’s uses in the industry, you can contact them at 800-359-7265.

Okay, now to the fun stuff: Chicken Jokes!

Why did the chicken cross the road? - To get to the other side

Why did the turkey cross the road? - To prove he wasn't chicken

Why did the chicken cross the playground? - To get to the other slide

Why did the chicken cross the road, roll in the mud and cross the road again ? - Because he was a dirty double-crosser

And last but not least, The Three-Legged Chicken!

A man was driving along a freeway when he noticed a chicken running alongside his car. He was amazed to see the chicken keeping up with him, as he was doing 50 mph. He accelerated to 60, and the chicken stayed right next to him. He sped up to 75 mph, and the chicken passed him. The man noticed that the chicken had three legs. So he followed the chicken down a road and ended up at a farm. He got out of his car and saw that all the chickens had three legs. He asked the farmer, "What's up with these chickens?" The farmer said "Well, everybody likes chicken legs, so I bred a three-legged bird. I'm going to be a millionaire." The man asked him how they tasted. The farmer said, "Don't know, haven't caught one yet."

Keep Smiling.
