I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but we just added a Golf Course Equipment page under Applications. In preparation for this page, I went out and visited some golf courses, talked to some maintenance crews and took some pictures of golf courses and their equipment. I also got the golf bug back, which, in my case, is a big ugly cockroach-type bug that chases me in my dreams and laughs at me. I stink at golf. I really do. I’ve gotten to the point where I try to just shrug it off and enjoy my day on the links. A big part of my love for the game is the beauty of the landscape. There is a peacefulness that comes over me as I stare out over a vast expanse of green, marveling at the quiet majesty of a well-maintained golf course. Then, of course, I have to hit the ball, and the quiet is shattered by my panicked shrieks of “Fore!” as my ball sails towards other golfers who are now ducking and running for cover.
In order to maintain the beauty of a golf course, maintenance crews work diligently mowing, watering, weeding, spiking, fertilizing, applying pesticides and herbicides, and avoiding the occasional ball shot from hacks like me. The combination of metal and water alone is a lighting rod for rust development, and the amount of water needed to maintain a golf course is formidable. Add to that mix the fertilizers, pesticides and other materials used, and golf course equipment becomes highly susceptible to corrosion and needs to be protected by a systematic maintenance program. That’s where Fluid Film fits in. Not only is Fluid Film an environmentally safer, non-toxic and non-hazardous product, which is important when you consider the natural surroundings of the application, but Fluid Film’s non-drying, lanolin base creates a barrier that cuts off all oxygen, preventing any type of corrosion from occurring. Because Fluid Film leaves a non-drying film, it also helps keep grass clippings and sap from sticking and building up on mowers and hedge trimmers. It will also not burn greenery on cutting devices, which is important when you are trying to create a lush, green environment.
Now, I realize that the timing of this newsletter and our new page probably isn’t the best, especially since winter is now fast approaching, but Fluid Film is also very useful when the golf-bug strikes during cold-weather months. Fluid Film is not water-soluble, so rain will not wash it off and it is excellent for winterizing equipment. In fact, Fluid Film could last you through a full rainy season. That lanolin base holds on as tight as my grip on a golf club. Now if Fluid Film could only keep my ball from slicing, I might be able to sleep better at night…
